For an intranet to work the team must have continuous contact with the intranet owner, in order to discuss progress related to the intranet plan, strategy, vision and budget, the staffing and competence of the team. The team also needs dialogue with the owner for decisions about major issues.
Often the product leader (the intranet manager/team lead) takes care of the contact with the owner.
